Vintage Seiko 5 — Mechanical Overhaul
Challenge
A 1970s Seiko 5 automatic that had been unworn for around twelve years. When worn, it stopped after a few hours and showed significant rate variation across positions — sometimes gaining 3 minutes per day, sometimes losing 90 seconds.
Service
Full movement teardown and ultrasonic clean. The barrel mainspring showed wear and was replaced after approval. Calibre-specific oils were applied at each friction point. The regulator was adjusted and the movement was run on the timing machine over three days before collection.
Result
Timing log returned: dial-up +5 s/d, dial-down +7 s/d, crown-left +3 s/d. Amplitude 265°. This is within the manufacturer's original specification for that calibre. The mainspring replacement cost was quoted and approved separately — total cost was ฿17,800 plus ฿1,200 for the part.

Full Rebuild & Refinish: movement torn down and overhauled, bracelet links tightened and clasp serviced, case surfaces refinished matching the original polished flanks and brushed lugs. Condition documented with photos before and after both movement and case work.
Result
The watch was returned with a 12-point condition report. Case scratches significantly reduced; polished surfaces re-established. Movement timing log showed ±6 seconds per day across positions. The bracelet no longer showed movement between links.

Citizen Eco-Drive — Care Basics
Challenge
A Citizen Eco-Drive that had been exposed to significant humidity during a rainy season trip. The crown gasket had degraded, the silicon strap had cracked, and the watch had stopped advancing seconds reliably — suggesting a low charge state from impaired light exposure.
Service
Care Basics scope: crown and caseback gaskets replaced, silicon strap swapped for a new unit in matching colour, case wiped down. The movement was assessed — no replacement needed, the charge simply needed resetting via controlled light exposure which is within the Care Basics scope for this calibre type.
Result
Watch returned fully functional with new gaskets and strap, total cost ฿3,500 as per the fixed rate. No additional charges. The client noted the seconds hand was tracking consistently and the strap felt better than the original.
